BAI maintains an in-house geotechnical laboratory that is capable of performing, in accordance with the applicable industry standards, the tests necessary to determining the engineering properties of soil, rock, and concrete materials. The following agencies have approved and/or provided authorization for the operation of BAI’s laboratory equipment:

The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has inspected and certified our Geotechnical Laboratory and has tested and certified our Senior Engineering Technician

The Division of the State Architect (DSA) has approved BAI’s laboratory for soil testing on school projects.

The California Regional Water Quality Control Board has inspected and certified BAI’s apparatus and personnel for hydrometer analysis of soils.

The Sonoma County Environmental Health Department has authorized BAI to perform laboratory soil testing for waivers to wet weather percolation tests.

Pacific Calibration Services has inspected and certified our compression machine, scales, oven, and water bath, for testing of concrete materials, rock cores, and soil samples.
BAI’s test procedures follow the current methods of:
- American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM)
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- State of California, Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
- The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
